  • A passport valid for at least six months after your date of entry.
  • A tourist visa if you are a citizen of the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, and most countries in the EU. Visa application forms can be found on Tanzanian Embassy websites.
  • An immunization certificate or health card if you arrive from a country where yellow fever is endemic.
  • A negative COVID-19 (and variants) certificate valid up to 72 hours before date of entry in Tanzania.

We recommend that you request assistance for the planning of your safari tour through DEBRE Safari Adventure or an accredited travel agent of your choice. DEBRE Safari Adventure will secure your accommodation reservation, arrange transport to and from any of the three Tanzanian international airports located in Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam, and Zanzibar, and will arrange for your access to the national parks, beaches, touristic sites, and attractions. We will ensure that the type of accommodation you request meets the expected standard of its category and offers you the most for your budget.

All of our customers are taken care of from the moment they land in the country. Our guides will welcome them at the airport and will accompany them during their stay and will drive them back to the airport for their return flight.

We recommend the use of bottled water when travelling through Tanzania. Bottled water are widely available and served in all restaurants and lodges. Tap water is safe for showering and brushing teeth but as a safety precaution should not be used to drink.

Tanzania is three hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3). Tanzania does not operate daylight saving time.

The International dialling code for Tanzania is +255, followed by the applicable area codes (e.g. 22 for Dar es Salaam, or 27 for Arusha). Calling out from Tanzania, you dial 00 plus the relevant country code (44 for the UK, 1 for the USA/Canada).

The official unit of currency is the Tanzanian shilling (TZS), divided into 100 cents. Notes are issued as TSh10, 000; 5000; 1000; 500; 200 and 100. Coins are issued as TSh100; 50; 20; 10, 5 and 1. Major currencies can be exchanged in larger towns at Foreign exchange bureaus. ATMs are available in major cities only.

Most of your meals and activities are generally included in your package cost. However, we recommend you to obtain TZS, EURO or USD currencies at the airport or bank upon your arrival in Tanzania. USD and EURO are accepted in many touristic areas, and can also be used for tips. Credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard and Amex are accepted at most lodges, camps, and hotels. Use of credit cards in small towns, country areas, and small retail shops may be restricted and or be subject up to a 10% surcharge.

For tours and safaris, groups range from eight to 25 people depending on the tour. Our vehicles can sit up to seven passengers during a safari. At lodges in Tanzania the group sizes are restricted for up to 30 people maximum. The lodges are small and exclusive, and most only accommodate 12 to 16 guests at a time.

As long as you can walk with ease, you should not have any issues. Walks in the bush are not that difficult, but if you are going to do a walking safari for a few days then you need to be quite fit. Expect walks between three and six hours per day for the Kilimanjaro climb. Therefore, a good fitness level is required. Game drives in a Land Cruiser and horseback riding are available alternative.

Your safari is generally near mountains and highlands. Temperate climate with some cold nights is likely. Therefore, selection of proper clothes is dependent on the time of the year and the area you intend to visit. Prophylactic anti-malarial medication is highly recommended. Consult your physician a few weeks before coming to Tanzania as some medications need time to be effective. In addition, mosquito repellents, long pants and long sleeves shirts and a hat are well advised.

Trip deposit are not refundable, however balance payment are partially refundable. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions tab under Cancellations for more details. We recommend that you subscribe to an insurance coverage in case of trip cancellation, interruption, delay or any medical emergencies.

Payment may be made via credit card or bank transfer to our bank account. We only accept credit card payments via our secure online credit card payment platform. Payment to be made in US dollars at Foreign Exchange bureaus and Bank Transfer may take between two and three working days to clear. When making a bank transfer, please inform and instruct your bank that the invoice amount must equal the funds clearing into our Diamond Trust Bank account, and that all nominal bank charges are for your account. If you have been quoted in TZS but would like to make payment in USD, for example, please let us know, and we will convert your invoice to reflect the correct USD amount.
